Text-a-Tip Service
Harness the power of your citizens
While emergency notification has focused on the outbound broadcast of important information, enabling people to conveniently provide information back to you is just as important.
uTip allows anyone in your community to alert the PSAP, dispatch center, city officials and/or others simply by sending an SMS text message from a standard cell phone. They can also submit tips on your website.

Your citizens can use the service to report suspicious or illegal activities that they see, such as vandalism, theft and domestic disputes, or to advise someone of a dangerous pothole or washed out bridge, or to ask for help when a phone call is not possible.
Incoming alerts can be configured to be anonymous, allowing uTipsters to send in tips without the fear or risk of retribution. uTip can also be used to help prevent crimes by reporting incidents before they escalate, and by helping police spot wanted individuals.
Tipsters do not need to be registered with the Amerilert emergency notification system for uTip to work, so anyone in the surrounding community can text a tip using the service.
